So, the situation is hard. The options are limited. Your position is worse than you thought.

When you can’t change the facts, what can you do?

If you want to lead yourself or others through change or challenge, influence yourself first.

After all, you are about all you can really control in the situation.

The best way to influence yourself is to work on your perspective - how you see things - because your perspective directs your efforts. What you see drives what you do. Use your perspective like a ship’s rudder to steer your efforts in a helpful direction.

I’ve recently been helping teams navigate waves of change, with more on the horizon. We’ve explored mental tools to help us:

▶︎ Expand our Perspective: What can we see when we step back from the noise?

▶︎ Clear our Perspective: What do we see when we set aside what we assume is and is not possible?

▶︎ Prime our Perspective: What do we see when we prime ourselves to look for opportunity?

Change is constant, but our perspective doesn’t need to be. A fresh perspective can guide us to better outcomes.

New Perspective + Same Facts = Better Outcomes
