Why tell when you can show?

Updated: Sep 24

Stories have a unique way of bypassing resistance. Unlike direct demands, stories invite people into a narrative where they can see possibilities without feeling pressured. A well-told story engages people emotionally, while allowing our message to fly below the “anti-persuasion radar”.

In this video, I explore how stories attract while directives repel - and why this shift matters for leaders, influencers, and negotiators.

This is the fourth of five videos that explore how we can reduce reactance - the natural inclination to push back when we detect someone could be threatening our autonomy. Here is what we’ve covered so far:

🎬 #1: Push Less to Influence More

🎬 #2: Invite No to Get to Yes

🎬 #3: Tell Less, Ask More

Stories attract while directives repel. Tap into this for more impact from your efforts.
